2010 RaboPlus National Points Series
The RaboPlus National Points Series 2010 is New Zealand’s premier road cycling series. Open to all licensed riders it aims to find the top Men and Women domestic riders in New Zealand.
This year’s series is a collection of 12 of New Zealand's classic events held throughout the country beginning with the Yarrows Taranaki Cycle Challenge in January and concluding with the Rice Mountain Classic in December. Below you will find information on the events, entry criteria, and a brief summary of the rules and regulations of competition.
Aim
- To allow New Zealand’s leading male and female domestic cyclists an opportunity to ride in a nationwide road series throughout the calendar year
- To raise the profile of cycling by adding prestige to key road events to attract more media attention, spectators and stronger competition
- To develop a domestic calendar to support the development of NZ cyclists.
- To provide a programme which provides a ranking system for domestic athletes.
- To raise the profile of New Zealand’s leading Classic cycling road races
Series Summary
- The series will include 12 races throughout the 2010 calendar year (see table below)
- The overall winner in the RaboPlus NPS will be determined by the total accumulated points for a rider throughout the 12 race series.
- There is no minimum number of events that an athlete is required to ride in order to be eligible for an overall RaboPlus NPS ranking.
- Points will be allocated to Bike NZ R&T and MTBNZ national licence holders only.
- Any non New Zealand licence holder results will be removed when the race points are allocated.
- There is no entry fee for individuals to enter the RaboPlus NPS competition.
- Event entry fees are paid directly to the respective event promoters.
- Any New Zealand licensed rider (Under 19 and above) who enters a RaboPlus NPS event is eligible to earn points.

Grades/Classification
Open Men Grade is for any male with an Under 19, Under 23, Senior, Elite or Masters National licence.
Open Women Grade is for any female with an Under 19, Senior, Elite or Masters licence National licence.
Under 15 & Under 17 riders are not permitted to compete in the RaboPlus National Points Series.
Team’s competition
There will be no teams competition for the 2010 RaboPlus NPS.
Ranking/Awards
- The ranking and points classifications being used are the same as the UCI points schedule used for the UCI Road Rankings.
- The overall male and female point’s champions will be awarded a national point’s series champion jersey at the conclusion of the RaboPlus NPS
- The top five places in the Open Men and Open Woman classes will win series trophies and the following:
o $1500 in a RaboPlus savings account
o $1000 in a RaboPlus savings account
o $750 in a RaboPlus savings account
o $500 in a RaboPlus savings account
o $250 in a RaboPlus savings account
- Rankings will be updated and posted within one week of BikeNZ receiving the results from the race organiser and will be available at www.bikenz.org.nz/nps

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
1. Do I need to have a national licence to compete?
Yes you must have a current (2010) National BR& T or MTBNZ licence to be eligible for the series.
2. When does the series start and finish?
The series will run on a calendar year. The first event will be the Yarrows Taranaki Cycle Challenge on January 30th and the final event will be the Rice Mountain Classic on December 18th.
3. Do I have to compete in all events to be eligible for the series?
No. The more events you do in the series, the more opportunity you will have to receive RaboPlus NPS points.
4. How are the points collated?
The ranking and points classifications being used are the same as the UCI points schedule used for the UCI Road Rankings. See points table below.

5. How do I enter the series?
By entering the “specified “elite mens or elite womens” race category within the events listed as part of the series and having a national U19 /U23, Senior or Masters licence you will be automatically entered into the series.
6. What do the winners of the series receive?
The overall male and female point’s champions will be awarded a national point’s series champion jersey at the conclusion of the RaboPlus NPS

7. Will my results count for selection in a National Squad?

8. When will the results be posted?
Results will be posted one week following the results being sent in by each event organiser of the series.
9. Where will the results be posted?
Results will be available on the BikeNZ website –www.bikenz.org.nz/nps
10. Can I be a part of the RaboPlus NPS and the RaboPlus Recreational Cycling Ranking Series?
Yes you can. Some events have races in that contribute points to the RaboPlus Recreational Cycling Ranking Series and RaboPlus National Points Series. For these events you must choose which series points you are competing for and enter the appropriate race as seen in the table below:

E.g you may decide to ride the “Solo” event at Taupo which will make you eligible for RaboPlus RCRS ranking points. The following week you may opt to ride the “Avanti Long Bays Classic” race at the Armstrong Festival of Cycling where you will be eligible for RaboPlus NPS points.
