Grades/Classification

Entry is Open Grade (Under 19 and above). Under 15 & Under 17 riders are not permitted to compete in Open Events.  Open events are for Under 19, Under 23, Elite and Masters category riders only.

Team’s competition

A minimum of three teams must enter for there to be a team’s competition
  • For teams to receive points in any event they must start between 3 to 8 riders. At the completion of the race the 3 best placed riders in each team will be used to calculate the aggregate points per team.  The team will then be allocated points as per the teams point schedule.

  • Teams can comprise between 4-10 members.

  • Riders can be in one team only at any one time. If a rider chooses to swap teams part way through the series he must apply to BikeNZ. Team points achieved by that rider will be eliminated from the team he is leaving, and can not be added to the new team. Individual points will not be affected by a team change.

  • All teams must have a team manager who is licenced to CNZ/MTBNZ and will act as the main contact between the team and BikeNZ, event organisers, media etc

  • A team registration fee / series entry fee of $400 plus GST, payable to BikeNZ prior to the start of the series will apply to all teams.

  • All team members must be in the same team uniform. An electronic version of the uniform must be supplied to BikeNZ for promotional purposes of the team prior to the series starting. The wearing of a leaders jersey takes precedence over a teams jersey, although a leaders jersey with a teams sponsors logo can be worn, the cost of producing such a jersey is at the teams expense and must be approved by BikeNZ prior to being worn.

  • Each team will be allocated a page on the NPS website to increase exposure for teams. Passport photos should be emailed to BikeNZ to be included on the team page of the NPS website.

  • Club teams are welcomed and encouraged along with trade teams

  • There is no female team’s competition in year 1 but there is provision for mixed teams.

  • Clubs/ Corporates may enter more than one team providing the following:
     - It must be stated that any additional team are a separate entity to the 1st team entered
     - Racing attire of a different colour must be worn by the 2nd team

  • See below for team point’s allocation.

Ranking/Awards

  • A combination of prizes and trophies will be awarded to the top five male and female Series place getters at the conclusion of the NPS.
The overall male and female point’s champions will be awarded a national point’s series champion jersey at the conclusion of the NPS

  • A series leader’s and Under 23 jersey will be awarded following each race in the series. (Under 23 Men only)

  • The final results after all races in the NPS will determine a NPS ranking for the year, as well as provide a “current” ranking throughout the year.

  • Each race in the series will provide $2500 (minimum) cash prize money and spot prizes as part of their existing prize pool.

  • At the conclusion of the series a team trophy will be awarded to the team whose best six results from throughout the series achieve the highest aggregate (assuming at least three teams entered the teams competition).
